The Ohio Athletic Conference is honoring a pair of Wilmington College athletes in its weekly honors.

In men’s track and field, Antone Truss is the OAC field athlete of the week.

In men’s lacrosse, Jake Ladendorf is the OAC defensive player of the week.

Ladendorf had 28 saves on 37 shots on goal to help Wilmington defeat Heidelberg 10-9 last Friday. Despite being outshot 59-31, WC won its first OAC match this season on the strength of Ladendorf’s net-minding heroics.

“Jake Ladendorf played a great game from start to finish on Friday,” WC coach Jeff Arneson said. “Down the stretch, he stood on his head and made some amazing saves late in the game to help clinch the victory. Overall, it was one of his best performances this season.”

A field player for the majority of his Wilmington career, Ladendorf has stepped into the goalkeeping role full-time for the first time in his career this season and played every minute for the Quakers in net.

For Truss, the weekly honor came on the strength of his performance in the All-Ohio meet at Ohio Wesleyan Saturday.

Truss won the high jump by clearing 6-10.75, narrowly missing the meet record. Additionally, Truss’s jump currently sits him fourth in all of NCAA Division III in the event.

Truss also placed sixth in the long jump at the All-Ohio meet with a mark of 6.43 meters (21-11.25).

Wilmington travels to the Jesse Owens Invitational on Friday.
