Heidelberg rips Wilmington for 31 runs in sweep

WILMINGTON – Heidelberg scored 31 runs in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep of Wilmington College Saturday afternoon. The Student Princes won both games, 14-6 and 22-2.

Wilmington got off to a fast start in the opener with a 3-0 lead. Antonio Miller, Gage Bley and Shane Hale drove in runs.

It was still 3-0 when WC starting pitcher Jared Ferenchak was lifted after two reached to open the seventh. The bullpen failed to hold the lead.

Kyle Short and Miller drove in runs in the ninth for Wilmington.

Hale had four hits, drove in a run and scored twice for WC. Miller had two hits and three RBIs.

In the second game, Heidelberg continued its offensive onslaught with a 17-0 lead after three innings.

Miller, Daniel Hayes and Kendall Vilvens had multi-hit games for Wilmington.

Wilmington will conclude its 2018 season with an OAC doubleheader at Ohio Northern University Saturday.
