KINGS MILLS — A dismal third quarter doomed the Wilmington High School girls basketball team Saturday in a 64-39 loss to Kings in a non-league game to open the season.
On the strength of a late second quarter rally, the Lady Hurricane led 23-22 at halftime.
But Kings scored the first 20 points of the third quarter and seized complete control of the game.
Mya Jackson, a WHS freshman, made her varsity debut with 15 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Suzannah Johns, who drained a couple of three pointers late in the first half to erase a 19-13 deficit, finished with 8 points and Leah Frisco came off the bench to score 7.
