ADAMS TOWNSHIP – Clinton-Massie started its quest to return to the Division IV state championship game in Canton with a 46-0 pasting of Springfield Shawnee Saturday at Frank Irelan Field.

The Falcons (10-1) advance to face former South Central Ohio League foe London in a Region 16 semifinal at 7 p.m. Saturday at a location to be determined. London beat Taft 37-21. The schools last met on the gridiron in 2012.

Brendan Lamb’s three first-quarter touchdowns built a 19-0 Massie cushion after a quarter.

He added another in the second quarter between scoring runs by Jake Vaughan and Corey Stulz.

Lamb finished with 80 yards on 11 carries. Vaughan added 151 yards on 14 carries. He also caught a pass for 20 yards.

Shawnee (6-5) turnovers led to Massie’s last two touchdowns of the first half.

CM coasted through the second half with a running clock.

Backup quarterback Kody Zantene tacked on another touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

In the other Region 16 semifinal next week, Wyoming and Indian Hill earned a rematch with blowout wins over Springfield Northwestern and Waverly, respectively.
