Kenyon sweeps WC in baseball doubleheader

The Wilmington College baseball team lost a doubleheader to Kenyon Tuesday in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Tewksbury-Delaney Field.

After rallying with a four-run seventh inning, the Quakers fell to Kenyon 14-11 in 12 innings in the first game then gave up seven unearned runs and lost 12-4 in the nightcap.

In the first game, the Quakers led 4-3 after two then trailed 5-4. It was tied at 5-5 when the Lords scored five runs in the fifth to grab a 10-5 lead.

Wilmington chipped away with one in the sixth, four in the seventh and one in the eighth to tie the game at 11-11.

Kenyon pushed three unearned runs across the board in the 12th for the win.

Jake Robinson and Daniel Hayes drove in three runs each for WC while Gage Bley had five hits. Corey Walker had three hits and scored four runs.

Wilmington had four bases loaded walks in the game. Kenyon pitchers walked 10 WC batters.

In the second game, Bley had two hits and drove in a run but WC stranded seven runners on base in the loss.
