Hanover hands WC women’s 5-3 loss

The Wilmington College women’s lacrosse team lost to Hanover Tuesday 5-3 in non-conference action at Townsend Field

Senior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana) helped Wilmington take an early 2-0 lead. She scored less than three minutes into the game off a feed from senior Abby Judy (Lancaster, OH/Fairfield Union).

Routzong tallied an unassisted goal with 18:32 remaining. She has 11 goals on the season.

Hanover answered with its first goal less than 90 seconds later, and claimed the lead for good with a pair of goals in the final 93 seconds of the first half.

Jude scored her 12th goal of the season, scoring with 1:46 left in the second half.

Senior Katie Bennett, 2-6, (Newport, OH/Frontier) made four saves on 12 shots.

Wilmington was 0-for-3 in its free position attempts, while Hanover was 3-for-6.

The Fightin’ Quakers won just 1 of 10 draw controls in the game.

Wilmington (2-7) opens Ohio Athletic Conference action by traveling to John Carroll 1 p.m. Saturday.
