Major League Baseball will host a free, one-day umpire camp at the P&G Cincinnati MLB Urban Youth Academy (2026 E. Seymour Ave., Cincinnati) 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, August 15th. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

Staff for the event will include many accomplished former MLB umpires, current MLB supervisors and observers, as well as Minor League Baseball officials. Among those participating will be Bruce Froemming, Randy Marsh, Charlie Reliford, Ed Rapuano, Rich Rieker, Cris Jones and Dusty Dellinger.

This is MLB’s fifth free, one-day umpire camp of 2015 for anyone interested in umpiring in baseball and softball, including those aiming to begin professional careers. In total, six events will be held in 2015, culminating with the MLBUC Professional Mini-Camp in Ft. Myers, Fla. in December.

Nineteen attendees from last year’s clinics went on to the MLB Professional Mini-Camp at no cost. Nine of the Ft. Myers attendees in 2014 advanced on MLB scholarships to the two professional umpire schools this past January, and most began their professional careers this past June. Over 100 attendees of MLB Umpire Camps have gone on to work in professional baseball since 2006.
