Wilmington resident Sam Lewis was a member of the Marco Island YMCA tennis team that finished as runnersup last month in their flight of United States Tennis Association Florida Sectional Adult 55 and Over Tennis Championship.

The team from Collier County, Fla., won the local league then claimed the regional championship to advance to state.

Playing a the Florida Tennis Center at Daytona Beach, the Marco Island team had a 4-1 record, losing only to a team from Miami in a third set tiebreaker. Along the way, Marco Island defeated teams from Tampa, Ocala, Gainesville and Hernando.

During the season, the Marco Island team posted a 20-3 record.
