Cindy Pringle, left, and Melissa Huston were married Wednesday by Clinton County Probate and Juvenile Judge Chad Carey in what may have been Clinton County’s first gay marriage. Probate court office officials explained that Pringle and Huston were the only couple to have filed for a marriage license in Clinton County. If one member of another couple resides in another county, then the couple may have filed in that county and been married in Clinton County. “We are just like anybody else, and we want to show our love like anybody else,” said Pringle. Many of Pringle’s and Huston’s children and grandchildren attended the ceremony. Gay marriage was effectually legalized almost two weeks ago by the Supreme Court of the United States.
