Executive Director of the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, Mark Rembert, spoke at a recent meeting of the Wilmington Lions Club.

Rembert painted a very positive picture of economic growth in the Wilmington area. Some of the good things happening include the investment and increased occupancy of residential apartments in the downtown area.

“As you drive through downtown in the evening you can see lights in the second and third floors of buildings that used to be dark,” said Rembert.

He also talked of the growth and improvements at the air park.

“Over 1,000 people are now employed there,” he said.

Major expansions are taking place at several industries.

“A few years ago we didn’t have enough jobs for the people. We are reaching the point where we don’t have enough people for the jobs,” said Rembert.
