The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle injury crash that injured seven people in Paint Township, Highland County Thursday at around 1:49 p.m.

The OSHP said the preliminary investigation shows that Rebecca Williamson, 33, of Peebles was driving a 2006 Subaru Tribeca SUV southbound on Beechwood Road. Police say she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection a North Shore Drive and traveled into the path a 2006 Ford F-250 driven by Robert Brogan, 68, of Hillsboro. Brogan’s vehicle struck Williamson’s on the passenger side, causing both vehicles to travel off the right side of the roadway.

Brogan and his sole passenger were transported to the Highland District Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Williamson was transported to the Highland District Hospital, but later flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati with serious injuries, but was in stable condition at the time.

Police say Williamson was transporting four juvenile passengers at the time of the crash. All the juvenile passengers were flown to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital by with serious injuries.

The Highland County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio Department of Natural Resources Officers and the Highway Patrol responded to assist. Paint Creek Fire Department responded to the scene.

According to the OSHP, it appears the juveniles were not secured in a safety restraint system while traveling in the vehicle — speed does not appear to be a factor, but failure to yield does. There is no evidence at present to indicate drugs and alcohol are involved, police said.

The crash is still under investigation.
