FELICITY — A first half hat trick by Bekah Sams propelled Blanchester to a 7-0 win over Felicity in Southern Buckeye Conference National Division soccer action Tuesday night.

Blanchester is 1-0-1 overall and 1-0 in the SBC.

Junior Chloe Caplinger and freshman Regan Ostermeier combined for the shutout in goal. Caplinger had one save and Ostermeier made four saves.

Sams, a junior, gave Blanchester the only goal it would need when she pounced on a bobbled ball by the FHS keeper and found the back of the net. Her second goal came when she volleyed an Audrey Jordan corner kick out of the air, BHS coach Kurt Ballinger said. Sams rounded out her hat trick by scoring off a throw-in by junior Mckenzie Hamm.

Sophomore Taylor McQuitty also scored in the first half as Blanchester led 4-0.

In the second half, senior Tristan Culberson “hit a laser to the top corner” of the goal to make it 5-0. Caplinger and senior Jasmine Maloney scored the first goals of their high school career. Maloney’s goal came after Emma Gundler was tackled from behind in the box, Ballinger said.

Jordan and Hamm had two assists each while Emily Hinkle recorded one assist.
