SABINA — Labor Day will again be celebrated at this village in northeast Clinton County.

On Monday, Sept. 7 a parade will start at 11 a.m. from the grounds of Sabina Elementary School. The parade units will start lining up at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the school off Washington Street (U.S. 22).

The parade will end at the Richland Township Park on the east end of town.

Floats will be judged for prizes. The parade theme this year is “Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!”

The grand marshal of the parade is Mary Olive Taylor.

The day’s attractions will be at the township park, where a chicken and pork chop lunch will be served about noon.

There will be live music from the local group Back in Time Express.

Other fun things at the Sabina Lions Club-organized event include face painting, a popcorn stand, a children’s bell choir, a mum and jelly sale, a tractor show, a farmers market, and an auction of items donated by area businesses.

The farmers market will be held by Taylor’s Tunis of the Sabina area.

Run by Bruce and Debbie Linebaugh, Taylor’s Tunis provides lamb to The General Denver in Wilmington and chicken, a variety of vegetables and cheesecake to the Plume Eatery Bar and Grille in Corwin.

Linebaugh said Tuesday they plan to have frozen lamb, pork and chicken, as well as pumpkin rolls, buckeye candy, apple-honey bread, squash and local honey at the Labor Day celebration.

The East Clinton Pee Wee football players and cheerleaders are expected to make an appearance.

For kindergarten through fifth-grade children, there will be a contest for the best decorated bike, with the top three receiving prizes. Judging will be at the Richland Park after the parade.

The Sabina Lions Club’s Labor Day observation started in 1960, according to the In and Around Sabina Town community flyer, sponsored by the Sabina Business Association.
