Wildcats JH teams sweep New Richmond

The Blanchester Junior High School football teams swept a pair of games Wednesday against New Richmond.

The eighth grade Wildcats (2-0-1) were victorious 28-14.

James Peters had 111 yards and two touchdowns rushing while Tanner Creager had 105 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Creager’s 65-yard run after New Richmond closed within 20-14 sealed the win.

Christian Stubbs had 54 yards on the ground and was the leading receiver with 31 yards. Jay Ashcraft caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Creager, who also ran in two-point conversion and pass to Nate Bates for another.

Stubbs led Blanchester with six tackles while Creager, Gage Daniels and Kadin Berwanger had four tackles each. Berwanger also had an interception and a forced fumble. T.J. Monhollen had an interception.

In the seventh grade game, Brayden Sipple threw for 259 yards and five touchdowns in a 40-16 win by the Wildcats (2-1 on the year).

Brody Rice was Sipple’s main target, catching five passes for 92 yards and a touchdown. Trenton Czaika had two touchdowns receiving, including one that came after a defender had tipped the pass, coach Brad Ballinger said.

Blake Richard and Kyle Hopkins also caught TD passes. Sipple ran 35 yards for another Wildcats score. Colt Conover scored on a pair of two-point conversion runs.

Hopkins led the ’Cats on defense with nine tackles. Gage Huston, Tre Mowry and Richard had five tackles each. Richard forced two fumbles and Brady Phillips had two sacks.
