WILMINGTON — The following information is obtained from the Clinton County Health Department and is compiled from inspection reports.

Violations are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination, illness or an environmental health hazard, including inadequate cooking of food items or poor personal hygiene.

The following restaurants and other food service establishments were inspected recently:

• Kentucky Fried Chicken, 127 E. Main St., Wilmington, September 3, standard. A light wasn’t working in reach-in cooler. Floor tile near fryer was damaged/missing.

• CVS, 120 E. Main St., Wilmington, September 4, standard. No violations noted.

• Damon’s, 1045 East Side Drive, Wilmington, September 2, standard. A server with a hand wrap helping with salad prep, handling utensils and doing other tasks. Tomatoes and peppers weren’t stored cold enough. Floor tile in walk-in cooler damaged. A light wasn’t working in a reach-in freezer. Warewash machine measured 0 parts per million chlorine concentration. Prep cooler next to ice machine had residues on handle. Dust accumulated on fan near cook line.

• G&G Enterprises, 59 Gano Road, Wilmington, September 3, standard. Tomatoes, pickles and chicken weren’t stored cold enough; a person in charge removed the products and called for repair. Sealant separating/peeling in vent hood above fryers. Cloth towels observed under drying rack. Tomato residue on slicer. Black residues near ice dispenser on fountain machine. Debris in handles of trash cans. Floor paint worn in ice machine and dry storage area. Cleaners stored above water and pet food in retail area; violation corrected during visit.

• Pilot Travel Center, 5772 U.S. 68 North, Wilmington, September 3, standard. Ice bucket found hanging above mop sink next to cleaning chemical storage and mops and brooms. Open packages of hot dogs missing date marks. Seal damaged on floor of walk-in cooler. Reach-in cooler not maintaining temperatures below 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Black slime accumulated on ice dispenser at soda fountain. Space between wall and three-sink. Light bulb not working in back room.

• Max & Erma’s, 123 Gano Road, Wilmington, September 2, standard. Several items weren’t stored cold enough. Light bulbs not working in vent hood above cooking area. Seal on salad cooler damaged. Light in reach-in cooler wasn’t working. Residues accumulated on nozzles at soda fountain machine. Food debris accumulated, splattered on slicer and stand mixer. Black residues seen on ceiling in front of walk-in cooler’s cooling unit. Handwashing sign missing at hand sink next to ice-making machine. Cellphone observed on prep cooler. Gnats spotted in server station.

• R+L Transfer, 600 Gillam Road, Wilmington, September 2, standard. Food handler handled raw eggs and then ready-to-eat foods; a person in charge corrected the staff. Several items weren’t stored cold enough. Bulb missing in pizza cabinet. Two coolers weren’t maintaining temperatures appropriately. Warewash machine had 0 parts per million of sanitizer in its solution. Brown residues on ice dispenser at fountain machine. Ice scoop bucket had black residues on it. Grease accumulated on fryers’ sides. Date-mark stickers on clean containers. Debris on blade of table-top can opener. Debris observed in handles and sides of trash cans. Floor tile chipped/damaged in front of cooler. Test strips unavailable to measure sanitizer.

• Wendy’s, 50 Roberts Road, Wilmington, September 1, standard. Boxes of food on floor of walk-in freezer. Reach-in freezer light wasn’t working. Grout missing between floor tiles. Some wall material wasn’t secured.

• Dairy Bar on Cherry Street, 803 Cherry Street, Blanchester, August 31, standard. Pulled barbecue and chili sauce weren’t stored cold enough; a person in charge changed the thermostat. Snow cone maker wasn’t rated for commercial use. Soft-serve machine cleaned weekly rather than daily.

• Snow Hill Country Club, 11093 State Route 73, New Vienna, August 31, standard. A package of raw beef was stored above lettuce and a tray of raw eggs was stored above sauces. Butter wasn’t stored cold enough. Containers of food missing date marks. Thermometer missing in cooler. Light missing in vent hood. Cooler wasn’t holding temperature nor closed properly. Inner guard in ice making machine has black and brown residues on it. Debris on table top can opener. Slicer had food residues on it. Box of cups on floor in kitchen and down stairs storage. Light cover missing on light switch in walk-in freezer. Floor paint peeling. Trim separating from wall under warewash machine. Floor tile damaged/missing. Light bulbs not working.
