FAYETTEVILLE — Bekah Sams scored twice and Audrey Jordan had a goal and two assists as Blanchester defeated Fayetteville 4-1 Tuesday in a non-league match at FHS.

Blanchester, 5-2-1 on the year, grabbed the early lead when Sams scored her fifth goal of the year, tracking down an Emily Hinkle through ball then shaking off a tackle by the Rockets keeper to make it 1-0, BHS coach Kurt Ballinger said.

Sams scored her sixth goal with Jordan assisting as the Ladycats took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Neither team scored until the final five minutes of the match. Jordan notched her sixth assist of the year with a “precision cross” to Chloe Caplinger who made it 3-0. Jordan then scored a goal of her own with Hinkle getting her second assist of the match.

Fayetteville senior Riley Claytor spoiled the shutout with a goal with two minutes remaining.

Regan Ostermeier had 12 saves for Blanchester, playing behind a swarming defense led by juniors Emma Gundler and Merri Lindsey, Ballinger said.
