Oktoberfest 5K is playground fundraiser

WILMINGTON — The Little Hearts Big Smiles Oktoberfest 5K will be on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the St. Columbkille Catholic Church located on Mulberry Street in downtown Wilmington. The 5K will begin at 9 a.m.

The proceeds from this event will benefit the all-children playground project on Fife Avenue. The playground is a gift from Little Hearts Big Smiles to the Clinton County Park Board.

Sign language classes coming

Spark Creative Artspace will be offering a series of three classes focusing on introducing people to American Sign Language (ASL). ASL is a major method of communications for people with hearing loss.

Tom Schluep and others will conduct the series of three sessions being held at Spark’s studios at 251 Jefferson St. in Greenfield. Classes will begin on Oct. 3 and continue Oct. 10 and 17. Classes will begin at 1 p.m. and last up to two hours. All materials will be provided.

Cost for the series of classes is $40 and registration may be made inperson at the beginning of the first class or by emailing [email protected] or calling 937-763-ART1.
