EC drops pair, raises money for Davis

LEES CREEK — The East Clinton varsity volleyball team lost a pair of matches to Lynchburg and Washington Senior.

On Thursday, Washington defeated the Lady Astros 17-25, 18-25, 21-25 in a South Central Ohio League match.

Sam Gaddis had 16 assists, three blocks and two digs. Sam Bronson had five aces and three digs. Taylor Spence had nine digs, Alexis Haines had an ace and nine digs, Kayla Hall had a dig and Paige Lilly had six kills and 10 digs. Also, Kenzie Campbell had six kills, five blocks and seven digs. Kate Durbin had five kills and a block. Sydney Landrum had a kill.

On Wednesday, Lynchburg came out on top with East Clinton 14-25, 21-25, 22-25 in a non-league match. The match was EC’s annual Volley for the Cure match. Money was raised to help East Clinton teacher Andrea Davis who is fighting breast cancer, coach Sarah Sodini said.

Gaddis finished with 13 assists and seven digs. Bronson had an ace and four digs. Spence had four digs while Haines had two aces and four digs. Hall had a kill. Lilly had six kills and 13 digs. Campbell had two kills, a block and seven digs. Durbin had two kills, a block and seven digs. Landrum contributed a kill and a dig.
