UPDATE: The Ohio Department of Natural Resources incorrectly spelled Barbara Brand’s name as “Bland.”

HARVEYSBURG — The woman whose body was found floating in Caesar Creek State Park Monday was identified Tuesday as 63-year-old Barbara Brand of Waynesville, according to Warren County and Ohio Department of Natural Resources officials.

An autopsy is expected to be performed in Montgomery County by the Warren County medical examiner to determine the cause of death. ODNR, in a prepared statement, said initial findings didn’t indicate foul play.

A couple found tennis shoes floating in the water near the beach around 3 p.m., according to Travis Martin, area supervisor with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. ODNR officials were called and continue to investigate.

“We’ve had tragedy at Caesar Creek this year, unfortunately,” said Travis Martin, area supervisor for ODNR. “We’ve had several boating incidents. This is the first incident we’ve had in the beach area. Very unfortunate.”

Martin said the woman didn’t appear to have been in the water for a long time.
