MIAMISBURG — Battling a brisk wind and cool temperatures, East Clinton’s Jon Blair shot a 77 Wednesday and advance to next week’s Div. II Southwest District golf tournament.

Playing in the Div. II Sectional at Pipestone Golf Course, Blair was the second low individual not on a district qualifying team.

Blair carded a 36-41-77. Cameron Willis of Eaton was the sectional medalist with a 71 (32-39).

The district tournament is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8 at Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown.

For Clinton-Massie, the season came to an abrupt end as the Falcons finished eighth in the final team standings. The Falcons had been undefeated in all matches up to this point in the season.

“Tough conditions,” CM coach Brian Mudd said. “It was colder and windier than we’ve had all season.”

Oakwood was the sectional team champion with 320. Alter followed with 323, Fenwick was third with 327 and Brookville, coached by former Clinton-Massie basketball coach Scott Caudill, was fourth and the final district qualifier with 334. Eaton also had 334 and was fifth. Carlisle was sixth 338, Valley View seventh 340, Clinton-Massie eighth 342, Badin nine 343, Versailles 10th 348, Monroe 11th 358, East Clinton 12th 360.

Madison, Chaminade-Julienne, Preble Shawnee and Stivers rounded out the field.

Thomas Carter posted the low score for the Falcons with an 81 (41-40).

“I thought Thomas played very well,” said Mudd.

The rest of the Falcons on Wednesday were Max Carnevale 84 (43-41), Cameron Collett 87 (44-43), Keith Mineer 90 (41-49), Drew Kienle 93 (46-47).
