BLANCHESTER — Led by goalkeeper Dakota Penquite, the Blanchester boys soccer team moved a step closer to a Southern Buckeye Conference National Division title with a 2-1 win over Bethel-Tate at Barbour Memorial Field.

The Wildcats, 10-1-2 overall, moves to 7-0-1 in the SBCN. Georgetown is 6-2 and Bethel-Tate is 5-2-1.

Blanchester can clinch an outright league title with a win over Georgetown Thursday at home on Senior Night. Blanchester defeated Georgetown 4-0 earlier this season.

The Wildcats and Tigers tied in their only other meeting this season.

Penquite made 18 saves in goal for Blanchester to keep the high-scoring Tigers to just one goal, coach Troy Ballinger said.

The BHS offense was Sam Schafer, who scored both goals, minutes apart, Ballinger said.

Logan Swinderman and Dade Coyle, both senior captains, recorded assists for the Wildcats.
