Special Olympics of Clinton County holds team bowling event

WILMINGTON — Special Olympics of Clinton County held its annual bowling event this month. It was held at Royal Z Lanes in Wilmington which has hosted the event for more than 10 years.

More than 50 athletes participated, and for several, this was their first experience with Special Olympics. Athletes competed in teams for the highest overall scores.

This year’s winning teams are as follows:

The gold medal women’s team, with a team score of 901, is comprised of Starr Poston, Becca Brewer and Jodi Winkle.

Members of the silver medal women’s team, with a team score of 799, are Holly Spangler, Jenny Rocheleau and Clara Gibson.

The bronze medal women’s team, with a team score of 771, consists of Shirley Cox, Bonnie Drummond and Sandy Fugett.

Members of the gold medal men’s team, with a team score of 984, are Rob Leach, Justin Lynch and Ryan Hartley.

The silver medal men’s team, with a team score of 957, is comprised of Joe Isaac, Josh Nakata and Michael Brady.

Members of the bronze medal men’s team, with a team score of 854, are Justin Grant, Todd Bickel, David Burton and Brian Bohnen.

Special Olympics said it would like to thank Royal Z Manager Jackie Balon and the staff their for their continued support.

“The way the staff at Royal Z Lanes treats and interacts with our athletes is outstanding. They know our athletes, and are always eager to be involved. They are truly one of our greatest allies and resources,” said Community Integration Coordinator Sarah Needham with the Clinton County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
