McCartney Project ‘Wings’ into Murphy

WILMINGTON — The McCartney Project, billed as “the ultimate tribute to The Beatles, Wings, and Paul McCartney,” takes center stage at the Murphy Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

The McCartney Project honors one of the most popular solo performers of all-time in terms of both sales of his recordings and attendance at his concerts. The McCartney Project covers more than three decades of the most popular Beatles hits through the songs of Wings and more.

In a high-energy show, Tony Burlingame, who leads the McCartney Project, performs each song replicating the authentic, iconic sound of Paul McCartney’s music. Burlingame has been paying tribute to McCartney for years and bears an uncanny physical resemblance to Sir Paul, as well as his voice, mannerisms and left-handed bass playing.

“We work very hard at replicating the sights and sounds of Paul McCartney — we even have our own Linda,” Burlingame said. “People constantly tell us how our show connected them with their own great memories.”

Burlingame has performed throughout the United States including performances with a premiere Beatles tribute band, the Fab Four.

Tickets to the McCartney Project are available at the box office at 50 W. Main St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; by calling 937-382-3643; or by ordering online at www.themurphytheatre.org. Tickets start at $12 for students; $17 for adults.
