BETHEL — For the eighth time in the last nine years and the sixth consecutive year, the Blanchester girls tennis program reigns supreme over the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division.
The Ladycats blanked Bethel-Tate 5-0 Tuesday and finished the season with a 5-1 SBCN record. Blanchester is 11-4 overall. BHS finishes tied atop the league standings with Clermont Northeastern.
“I’m so proud of this team to be able to rebound from such a deep disappointment last week at CNE,” BHS coach Matt Sexton said. “We had a great weekend at coaches classic and we followed it up by taking care of business. These girls have put in a lot of hard work and deserve to celebrate the accomplishment. Six league titles is not easy. We’ve always got the target on our back but we wouldn’t want it any other way. Now it’s up to the underclassmen to put in the hard work necessary to make it seven straight.”
Several of the matches were closely contested. The exception came at second doubles where Alexis Vestal and Korie White were 6-0, 6-0 winners.
