BLANCHESTER — Brant Bandow had three assists as the Blanchester boys soccer team defeated Fayetteville 3-2 Saturday in a non-league match at Barbour Memorial Field.

The Wildcats are now 6-6-1 on the year with the win.

Blanchester tied the match at 1-1 when Topher Farrow’s header beat the Rockets’ keeper. Brant Bandow assisted on the goal off a throw-in, coach Troy Ballinger said.

Fayetteville grabbed a 2-1 lead off a “tremendous shot from inside the 18 yard box but from what seemed like a near impossible angle, Ballinger said.

The Wildcats, though, used two more Bandow throw-in assists to gain the win. Captains Dakota Penquite and Sam Schafer were the recipients of those throw-ins and scored goals to put BHS on top by one.

Penquite played the first half in goal and had six saves. Lane Heeg was between the pipes in the second half and made four saves.

Blanchester will play Leesburg Fairfield Tuesday and Goshen on Thursday. The ’Cats will host Williamsburg tonight.
