Blanchester rallies to top Goshen in regular season finale

BLANCHESTER — Rallying from an early deficit, the Blanchester boys soccer team defeated Goshen 3-2 Thursday in a non-league match at Barbour Memorial Field.

The Wildcats finish the regular season with a 7-6-3 record. BHS plays at Western Brown Monday in a Div. II sectional tournament match.

After the Warriors scored first to take a 1-0 lead, Blanchester responded with two goals by Topher Farrow within two minutes to put the Wildcats on top 2-1.

Goshen again tied the match at 2-2 shortly after the second half start, BHS coach Troy Ballinger said, but Blanchester snapped the tie when Nevan Coyle found the back of the net for a 3-2 win.

Coyle, Noah Armocida and Sam Schafer recorded assists for Blanchester.

Dakota Penquite had 16 saves in goal for BHS.

Blanchester seniors Eli McEntire, Cameron Crosley, Bryce Dickison, Schafer and Penquite were honored prior to the match.
