CINCINNATI – The Wilmington High School boys soccer season ended Thursday with an 8-0 loss to St. Xavier Thursday in a Div. I sectional match at SXHS.

The loss, on a cool, damp night, leaves Wilmington with a 13-5 record. The Hurricane were co-champions of the South Central Ohio League, the school’s first boys soccer league championship since the 2001 season.

St. Xavier continues in the tournament with a 10-5-2 record. St. Xavier will play Fairfield 7 p.m. Monday at Hamilton High School.

The Bombers, runnersup in the Greater Catholic League South Division boys soccer standings, led the Hurricane 2-0 at halftime but they scored two goals — one of which was an own goal by WHS — within a minute with approximately 33 minutes remaining in the match.
