Storm, Dungan qualify to state swim meet in 2 events each

Clinton-Massie’s Gracie Storm and Wilmington’s Ricky Dungan qualified to the upcoming Div. II state swim tournament in two events.

Storm, a senior and now four-time state qualifier, is seeded 14th in the 500 freestyle with a district time of 5:11.48. The top time in the event is 4:51.83 by Lucy Callard of Cincinnati Seven Hills.

In the 100 backstroke, Storm is seeded 13th with a time of 58.29. The top time is 54.62 seconds by Payton Keiner of Cincinnati Christian.

Dungan, a sophomore, is seeded 22nd in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.03. The top time in the event is 1:38.12 by Bellbrook’s Cod Bybee.

Dungan is the 15th seed in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:50.76. The best time going into the state is 4:29.16 by Eric Knowles of Legacy Christian Academy.

The 90th annual boys and 41st annual girls Ohio State Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at Canton McKinley High School’s CT Branin Natatorium.

The Division II meet for Dungan and Storm will begin with the preliminary round which commences at 5 p.m. Thursday. The next round, the consolation and championship heats, will start at 5 p.m. Friday.

The top eight swimmers from the preliminary heats will advance to the championship heat and vie for first through eighth place. Swimmers who posted the ninth through 16th fastest times in the preliminaries will swim for no better than 9th place on Friday.
