Mark and Rita Miars of Wilmington are proudly announcing the birth of their second granddaughter, Sophie Evelyn Alwan. She was born Monday, July 3, 2017, weighing 8 lbs., 13 oz. and was 22 inches long.

The parents are Laura Miars Alwan and Michael Alwan of Seattle, Washington.

Sophie was welcomed home by her 2-1/2 year-old sister, Ellie Alwan.

The paternal grandparents are Maribeth and Greg Kolb of Peoria, Illinois and Gary Alwan also of Peoria. The maternal great grandmothers are Cesira Germani of Toronto, Canada and Suzanne Miars of Wilmington. The paternal great grandmother is Evelyn Alwan of Peoria, Illinois.
