MANHEIM, Pa. — Avery Bair and Shadrach Brausch represented the Wilmington College wrestling team on the National Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-America honors.

Honorees maintain a 3.2 or above cumulative grade point average, been at their respective institution for the full academic year and competed in at least half of the team’s contests throughout the season.

Brausch, a Wilmington High School graduate and an All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, went 3-1 in matches at the 285-pound weight class while Bair wrestling at 165 pounds.

“We are very excited for Avery and Shadrach,” WC wrestling coach Justin Kihn said. “They were able to show this season that they were some of the best in the country on the mat and in the classroom. It is exciting to have the first Academic All-Americans in our program since bringing it back. Along with these two, we had a few others that were close to qualifying and look forward to adding many more to the list in the future.”

Wilmington fought through COVID-19 protocols to compete in three Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet weekends in the spring of 2021.
