Woods earns G-MAC freshman of year honors

Findlay University newcomer Gabby Woods earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors.

A Clinton-Massie High School graduate, Woods won the G-MAC title this season and earned all-conference accolades in the process. She ranked 93rd in the nation in scoring average at 77.05 and was 10th among all golfers at the NCAA Division II level with 53 birdies.

In addition, senior Meredith Wipper, senior Kristina Kniesly, and junior Danbi Kim earned all-conference honors for the Oilers as well.

The Findlay golfers were defeated 3-2 by St. Mary’s in the quarterfinal round of match play in the NCAA Division II National Championship at the TPC of Michigan.

Woods posted one of the wins for the Oilers. She build a nine-stroke lead through nine holes and won by five.

In the team portion of the National Championship tournament, Findlay was third overall. Woods finished 63rd among individuals with a 244 (72, 89, 83) total for three rounds.
