A birthday card shower and open house celebration is planned for Dorothy Daye, who will turn 90 years young on August 31, 2022.

The open house is planned for 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 28 at the Wilmington Savings Bank Clinton County Senior Center at 717 N. Nelson Ave., Wilmington.

Dorothy was born in Adams County, but life eventually landed her in Clinton County, where she met and married her husband, Estel Glen Daye, Jr. Together they built their lives in New Vienna and became a part of the independent family business, Daye Hardware, which Glen’s father started in 1945. The business was run by the Daye family until its closing in 1997.

Dorothy was an active member of the New Vienna Church of Christ and, since moving to Wilmington, is active at the Wilmington Church of Christ. She is also a member of the Clinton County Senior Center where she has met and made many friends Dorothy’s most satisfying accomplishment however, has been her family which includes children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Throughout life Dorothy’s motto has always been “Love many, trust few, and always paddle your own canoe.”
