ADAMS TOWNSHIP — Clinton-Massie dominated in the fourth quarter Saturday and defeated Williamsburg 44-27 on Senior Day at Brian P. Mudd Court.
The Falcons, 9-11 overall, have won four of their last five games.
“The girls played hard and with a lot of effort and energy,” CM coach Hilma Crawford said. “That’s all a coach can ask for. The nine wins are the most in some years and the senior leadership was a big part of the team’s success.”
Massie will face either Waynesville or Belmont Feb. 14 at Trotwood-Madison High School in the Division II sectional tournament.
The Falcons pulled out to a 19-11 lead at halftime but the Wildcats were not going away and it was 27-19 after three quarters.
“Got off to a slow start and third quarter started off slow,” Crawford said. “Williamsburg cut it to two late in the third.”
But Hannah Bowman hit a three-pointer and then McKenna Branham had an old-fashioned three-point play to take a 21-19 advantage to 28-19.
Bowman and Aidan Eades continued to push the Massie lead in the fourth, combining for 13 of the 17 points and an easy win.
“I just told the girls we weathered the storm and we came out and played a really nice fourth quarter,” said Crawford.
Bowman had a game-high 20 points on 6 of 11 shooting. She made three of four from three-point range and five of six at the free throw line. Bowman also had seven rebounds and four blocked shots.
Eades grabbed eight rebounds and handed out four assists. Branham had five steals
