Bethany holds off Wilmington for 9-6 win

BETHANY, W. Va. — The Wilmington College men’s lacrosse team scored three goals in the second quarter and four Quakers scored in the game Wednesday but Wilmington came up short against Bethany 9-6.

The Quakers fell behind 3-1 in the first quarter, but a trio of goals by Garrett Murrell, Austin Pagett and Andrew Chevrette had the visitors go into the half with a manageable 5-4 deficit.

Justen Shaw scored to extend his streak of games with a goal to four. Sophomore goalkeeper Cody Everly made 11 saves for the Quakers.

Wilmington will have a quick turnaround with a game against La Roche College 4 p.m. today.
