HAMERSVILLE — Blanchester’s Evan Malott was match medalist Monday and East Clinton finished first among teams in the SBAAC National Division boys 9-hole golf match at Friendly Meadows Golf Course.
Malott had a 1-over par 37. The Astros won by two strokes over Clermont Northeastern 188 to 190. Blanchester finished third.
Sophomore Kaiden Roth led a trio of Astros in the 40s with a 44. Sophomore Wade Smith came in with 45 and Mitchell Ellis shot a 48.
“I am extremely proud of the continuous improvement from our younger players,” EC coach Thomas Sodini said of his squad, who won their first league divisional of the season.
Malott is second in the individual standings with a 174 and is 18 strokes behind leader Karson LaGrange of Williamsburg.
East Clinton’s Mitchell Ellis is fifth with 185.
In the team standings, CNE is first with 759. East Clinton is three shots ahead of Blanchester in fifth place.
