The 11th annual Wilmington Kiwanis Club Backyard Bash was a thriller Friday night at Frank Irelan Field with the Falcons pulling away late in the game for a 38-16 win over the Hurricane.
After the game, the Wilmington Kiwanis Club presented awards to player from both teams. The awards were the Walter G. Sellers Memorial Leadership Award (given to the two outstanding senior players on the field, the classroom and their community), Offensive Player of the Game, Defensive Player of the Game, Scout Player of the Week, and Special Teams Player of the Game.
Clinton-Massie winners of the awards were Cash Mounce (Walter G. Sellers Memorial Leadership Award), Bret Gray (Scout Team Player of the Week), Peyton Warren (Offensive Player of the Game), Brady Russell (Defensive Player of the Game) and Jack Elkins (Special Teams Player of the Game.
Wilmington award winners were Malachi Cumberland (Walter G. Seller Memorial Leadership Award), Payden Mawyer (Scout Team Player of the Week), Josiah Puller (Offensive Player of the Game), Bryson Schutte (Defensive Player of the Game) and Dylan Groves (Special Teams Player of the Game).
