Wayne (Gene) Sprouse celebrates 90th birthday

The 90th birthday of Wayne (Gene) Sprouse of Wilmington will be celebrated at an open house 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20 at the Clinton County Aging Up Community Center, 717 N. Nelson Ave., Wilmington.

Cards are also appreciated and may be mailed to 286 Community Drive, Wilmington, OH 45177.

Mr. Sprouse was born to Clara Louise (Georges) Sprouse and Floyd Carey Sprouse on March 20, 1932 in Wilmington.

He married Marjorie Ann (Morris) Sprouse on January 5, 1952; she passed away in 2013. They have three children: Michael (Kim) Sprouse of Wilmington, Martin (Sydney) Sprouse of Lebanon, and Sue Ann (Scott) Allen of Maineville.

Mr. Sprouse is veteran of the U.S. Air Force Band stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Wilmington.

He is also a well-known musician area for over 70 years as a founding member of the Hi-Notes and Riverest Trio & Friends bands, which performed traditional “swing” music at dances, weddings, festivals and charity events.
