Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Michelle Persing are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Honor Christine Persing, to Charles Owen Hoffmann, formerly of Batavia. The two were engaged on August 28, when Charlie surprised Honor while she was on a family vacation in the Grand Tetons.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Miami University with a degree in the Classics, and currently completing U.S. Navy flight school in Pensacola, Florida. The future bride is finishing high school and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English through dual enrollment classes. Both were homeschooled, and competed in the same high school speech and debate league.

The couple hopes to wed next year, as the groom’s training schedule allows.
