McGuire-Johnston wedding

Caraline Elisabeth McGuire and Luke Shigeo Johnston were married May 23, 2015 on a beautiful spring afternoon in Sunbury, Ohio. The church was decorated with an abundance of spring flowers, vintage lanterns, and trees lit with white lights. The lighted cross featured a bridal bouquet symbolizing the Christ-centered marriage of the bride and groom.

The bride was escorted down the lantern and Hydrangea decorated aisle by her father Greggory McGuire. She was radiant in a vintage gown of lace and pearls featuring a sweatheart neckline and cathederal length train created from alternating tiers of Chantilly and Alencon Lace. Her veil of bridal illusion and lace was accented with a headband of Swarovski Crystals and pearls. The gown was previously worn by Caraline’s mother Laura Johnson McGuire. Her bouquet was made of Hydrangea, Conucleaus, and Peonies. Broaches belonging to the women in the bride’s family were nestled among the flowers.

The six bridesmaids wore royal blue gowns with a side ruffle. Handmade bracelets accented with vintage jewelry were a gift from the bride. Each attendent carried a smaller version of the bride’s bouquet. The groom and groomsmen wore gray tuxedos and royal blue ties.

The ceremony was performed by the groom’s father, Rev. Peter Johnston. The bride’s uncle, Rick Johnson, sang several prelude songs and her brother, Matthew McGuire, sang “All of Me” as the bride and groom lit the unity candle.

A dinner and dance reception immediately followed the ceremony at North Star Country Club.

Caraline teaches English at Licking Valley High School and Luke is a counselor at Newark High School. The couple resides in Westerville, Ohio. The bride is the daughter of Greggory and Laura McGuire and the granddaughter of Naomi Nichols all of Wilmington, and James and Kathy McGuire of Circleville.

The groom is a son of Rev. Peter and Mariko Johnson of Perrysburg, Ohio and the grandson of Margery Freshley of Montgomery, Ohio.

Bridal showers for the couple were hosted by Megummi Robertson, sister of the groom, Julie Peterson, friend of the bride, and Stephanie Blatnik, Maid of Honor.
