The Health Alliance held its general meeting at McCoy’s Banquet Center on April 23 with 22 members and one guest present.

After a delicious meal, Shari Murphy, our speaker for the evening was introduced. Mrs. Murphy is currently teaching seventh grade at the Wilmington Middle School.

She spoke about Project TRUST, which was started in 1994 by Jim Boland. It is a three-day camp for seventh- and eighth-grade students who have been nominated by their teachers. It is a time of working together helping each other.

During the business portion of the evening. President Kathy Havey reported the 5K run held on April 6 was attended by 94 participants. She thanked all who helped and participated — a very successful day. Also a successful book sale was held earlier in April.

The next event is the Jewelry Sale at the hospital on May 21-23. Workers will be needed.

An auction Committee Kick Off will be May 9 to get ready for the Holiday Ball which will be held on Dec. 14.

The next board meeting is May 7. The next general meeting will be July 23 at McCoy’s Banquet Center.
