Blanchester FFA wraps up big year

0

The Blanchester FFA had one of its most exciting years at the 2019 State FFA convention.

Kicking off the beginning of an amazing trip, the members stopped at Mid-states Wool Growers. Here, FFA members learned about grading process of wool taken from all around the country, and the entrepreneurship involved in selling the wool around the world.

FFA members then went to the Columbus Zoo, where they fed giraffes and were able to pet some reptiles.

Blanchester FFA members also took an amazing trip to the Ohio Department of Agriculture. We saw the animal lab, and where the animals that came in were tested. The members learned of the discarding process in the name of science.

Later the members explored the plant lab, where plants from allover the world are tested.

On May 2, Chris Koch arrived at the FFA convention and spoke about his amazing ability to overcome.

Chris was born without arms and legs. He is an amazing farmer who can do everything that everyone else can do. Chris encourages that, when one door is closed, you learn to open another.

Also on May 2, Mandy Harvey sang and spoke in front of the Ohio FFA members. Mandy became deaf at age 18, but still continued singing, and made it on “America’s Got Talent.” There, she had gotten the golden buzzer.

Mandy spoke about moving on and making the best of what you have. Mandy has made an impact on everyone that attended, and we can not thank her enough.
