WILMINGTON — Four longtime members of the Wilmington College faculty and administrative staff are retiring this summer after serving the institution for a cumulative 115 years.

They include Dr. William Kincaid, Patti Kinsinger, Donna Painter and Dr. Tom Stilwell. The College held a reception in their honor in May.

President Jim Reynolds expressed his appreciation for their significant contributions.

“Wilmington College is indebted to these outstanding individuals for their many years of fine service and dedication to facilitating student success through their respective areas of expertise,” he said. “We wish them an enjoyable retirement.”

Kincaid, professor of mathematics, retires after teaching for 50 years, which constitutes a record as a full-time faculty member. He came in fall 1969 and, during his early years at WC, coached 13 seasons of cross country and/or track and field.

Kinsinger, assistant professor of art and head reference librarian, initially worked in WC’s program for incarcerated students beginning in 1990 before joining the Watson Library staff in 1995. She is well known for providing insightful and enthusiastic assistance to students and faculty engaging in scholarly research.

Painter, director of enterprise systems and a staff member with Information Technology since 2001, excelled at effectively communicating technology concepts and issues with persons of different backgrounds and interests.

Stilwell, associate professor of agriculture and member of the faculty since 2001, came to WC after retiring from a career as an agronomist in Latin America, Asia and Africa. He is a well-known proponent of the College’s hallmark for hands-on learning, as he regularly took his students from the classroom setting into farm fields and soil pits, as well as on shot-term study tours throughout the world. Stilwell also gained an extensive international following as a result of his World Crops Museum.
