Charity car and bike show upcoming

“The Past & The Furious III” Community Charity Car and Bike Show will be Saturday, August 8 (rain or shine) at Wilmington Air Park’s Welcome Center Parking Lot on Airborne Road, Wilmington.

It’s open to all makes, models and years with a dash plaque to the first 50 entries, plus the Top 25 awarded in many categories. The event also features food and drinks on-site, door prizes (bring canned food donations for extra tickets), 50/50 and pick-a-prize raffle, swap meet, vendors, goodie bags, and Chazziz DJ, Charlie Hargrave.

Proceeds benefit the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, United Way, American Diabetes Association, American Red Cross and the Wilmington Food Pantry.

Admission is free. There is a $10 car/bike entry fee. Registration is 9 a.m. to noon with awards at 3 p.m. For more information, call Tanya Woodford at 937-218-2218 or go to their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/atsginc.

A.B.A.T.E. Battle of the Bands set

A.B.A.T.E. of Ohio Toys for Tots Battle of the Bands featuring music as well as biker games, camping, vendors trophy for the best bike, and a bonfire will be Saturday, August 1 at 3120 Farmers Road, Wilmington. Rain date is August 8.

Admission is $10 at the gate; fee for vendors is $25. Gates open at 2 p.m. and the event ends at 11 p.m. For more information, call Theresa Shoemaker at 937-302-6232 or Randy Wallace at 937-289-2758.

Thirty percent of the gate proceeds will benefit A.B.A.T.E. of Ohio. A.B.A.T.E. of Ohio is a “not-for-profit” organization; donations are not tax-deductible.

Open house for WNJ’s Pam Stricker

The Wilmington News Journal will host an open house for Publisher Pam Stricker, who is leaving Wilmington after 14 years to become publisher of another Civitas Media publication, The Lima News.

The event will be at the News Journal’s facility at 761 S. Nelson Ave from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 13. Pam’s friends and community members are invited to stop by for this special event.
