The Clinton County Fur & Feather 4-H Club met Wednesday at the fairgrounds Rabbit Barn for its annual pot luck dinner meeting. Fried chicken and drinks were provided by the club. Members and their families brought side dishes and desserts.
The pot luck dinner is always a highlight of the year for members and their families to attend. The club is celebrating its 65th year as a 4-H club this year.
Advisor Kevin Bogan was recognized, as this will be his 50th consecutive year he’s shown rabbits at the Clinton County Fair. He was also a member of the Fur & Feather 4-H club as a youth.
After the dinner, members received club T-shirts and show aprons for the fair. These were provided by the club from money raised from the club’s December rabbit show they hosted. The club’sshow this year will be Saturday, Dec. 28.
We had our last meeting before the fair. President Jayden Doyle called the meeting to order. Jace Doyle gave a safety presentation on tornadoes and the club went over tornado safety for the fairgrounds.
The fair is quickly approaching July 6-13. Wristbands can be picked up either June 28 or July 5 at the fairgrounds. Rabbits move into the fair Tuesday, July 9 and market fryers will be weighed in as they come in.
The 4-H Market, Breeding and Showmanship show will be on July 10. The youth open show will be on July 11. The Breed ID and Judging contest will be on July 12. Fair rabbits will be released to go home July 12 from 11 p.m.-midnight or July 13 from 7-9 a.m.
The sale will be Saturday, July 13.
