WILMINGTON — In re-organization action Monday for 2016, Mike Curry was named president of Clinton County commissioners in his final year on the board.

It is a tradition in Clinton County for the position of commissioners president to be filled on a rotating basis, and it was Curry’s turn.

After the election, fellow Clinton County Commissioner Kerry R. Steed said even if it were not Curry’s turn to be the president, it would be an appropriate way for Curry to conclude his four-term service to the county.

Now in his 16th year as county commissioner, Curry is not seeking re-election.

After hearing Steed’s remark, Curry said, “Let’s make it a good year.”

The selection of Curry as president was the first in a long list of annual appointments or designations to local boards or committees that commissioners are authorized to make. Below are more appointments to county or public bodies.

Steed was elected the commissioners vice president.

Jeff Harris was re-appointed county apiary (bees kept for honey) inspector.

Curry, Steed and Clinton County Commissioner Patrick Haley were all designated to serve on the County Investment Committee.
