CC Board of DD visits Rotary

Josh Adkins, Community Integration Coordinator, and Shanon Bene, Employment First Coordinator of the Clinton County Board of Developmental Disabilities (CCBDD) spoke to the Wilmington Rotary Club which meets at noon on Mondays at Damon’s Restaurant.

The CCBDD’s mission is “To inspire people of all abilities to embrace the pursuit of self-advocacy, choice and integration. They provide services for individuals from birth to earth including service and support administration, residential supports, community supported employment, early intervention services employment, First Services Family Support Services, and Special Olympics.

Josh Adkins spoke about Jenny Rocheleau, who is preparing to perform at the Murphy Theatre’s Dancing with the Stars on Sept. 21. The CCBDD is helping Jenny to raise funds in support of the Murphy Theatre. Josh said that Jenny is excited to be participating in the event.

Shanon Bene spoke about the individuals that go from school to work situations through the Employment First Services. She stressed that individuals look forward to working and living independently. The CCBDD helps make that happen.

The service focuses on supporting youth at age 14 in local school districts by coordinating opportunities to explore careers and linking them with services reach those goals.
