OSHP: Maineville mayor struck, killed

MAINEVILLE — The Mayor of the Village of Maineville in Warren County was killed when a pickup truck struck the lawnmower he was on, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lebanon Post.

The investigation showed that a 2019 black Ford F-150 Truck driven by Victoria A. Vogel, 30, of Morrow was traveling west on Foster Maineville Road in Maineville. A 2014 red Gravely Zero Turn Lawn Mower driven by William V. Shearer, 82, of Maineville was also traveling west on Foster Maineville Road. The F-150 struck the mower from behind, the OSHP stated.

Vogel was taken to Bethesda Arrow Springs Hospital with minor injuries and Shearer was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with a severe head injury. Shearer was pronounced deceased from his injuries at Miami Valley. Vogel was treated and released from Bethesda Arrow Springs, the patrol said.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash. The crash remains under investigation.
