Moore Road to be closed

Moore Road will be closed for bridge maintenance beginning Monday, Sept. 23, weather permitting, according to the Clinton County Engineer’s Office.

This bridge is located between Bernard Road and Hamilton Road in Wayne Township. The last address accessible from the north (Bernard Road) is 371 Moore Road. There are no addresses/residences between the closure and Hamilton Rd.

The project is anticipated to take five days, weather permitting.

Corn Festival called success

Clinton County Corn Festival organizers say they believe more than 10,000 people came through the gates this year for the annual event.

“The Chester Friends booth ran out of ice cream Saturday night, the Boy Scouts sold 3,000-plus ears of corn and other vendors did well, too,” said festival spokesman Jonathan McKay.

“It was a banner year, without question,” he added.

The small engine display area was packed, and the start-ups of the big engine drew huge crowds as well, according to McKay.

The Clinton County Historical Society returned to the festival for the first time in years and had more than 300 individuals visit their booth.

The nine Corn Olympic teams are the most in a number of years.

“Overall, it was a very successful Corn Festival. The Convention and Visitors Bureau [CVB] helped with its huge promoting of the festival and bringing in our entertainment. We are already planning next year,” said McKay.
