The new Friends of Clarksville nonprofit organization formed in July with a mission of “Building Community, Restoring Hope and Growing Our Future.”
On Saturday the group held its first fundraising event for its first project — the creation of a new park on land donated by the Clarksville United Methodist Church by the intersection of 1st and Main streets — with a cruise-in and cookout also featuring the band Better Daze.
“We had a great turnout,” said Friends of Clarksville member Wade Hall. “We had 35 gift baskets to raffle off thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals.
“We are off to a good start on raising the funds needed to fund our new community park project thanks to the support of the local community.”
