Oktoberfest celebration in New Vienna

NEW VIENNA — The 5th Annual New Vienna Oktoberfest celebration took place Sept. 20-21 in downtown New Vienna.

The event consisted of two free concerts — Blue Steel and Southern Express — a 50/50 raffle (Kurt Benson), a silent auction, German cuisine (local restaurants), local venders, games for all ages and tons of prize giveaways.

The event contests and winners were: The beer stein hoist (Dale Ellenbarger); hotdog eating contest (Devin Ford); longest hula hooping (Erika Collins); basketball free throw (Justin Howard); and Clinton County’s “largest Chicken Dance” sure enticed spectators of all ages.

The Oktoberfest pageant was held Saturday at noon as 15 contestants participated. The children; ages 0-5 were judged on personality, general Q&A and aesthetics. Winners were:

Mr. Oktoberfest — Beau Davidson, 5, son of Justin & Bethann Davidson.

Lil’ Mr. Oktoberfest — Noah Solais, 2, son of Jerry & April Solais.

Miss Oktoberfest — Keilei McCoy, 5, daughter of Kristina Haines.

Lil’ Miss Oktoberfest — Kenley Jones 2, daughter of Jodi Jones

This is the NVPC’s largest fundraising event of the year. Proceeds all go to the New Vienna Community Center.

The funding helps run its annual programs that benefit the community.

The New Vienna Planning Committee thanks all local residents and surrounding areas for their continued support.
